SHE-BOX EXPLAINED
SHe-Box — the Sexual Harassment electronic Box — is the Ministry of Women and Child Development’s online platform for workplace sexual-harassment complaints.
The current platform, described by the Ministry as SHe-Box 2.0, provides a single-window system through which women can register complaints and track their progress. It also supports implementation of the workplace sexual-harassment framework through information on Internal Committees, Local Committees, workplaces and nodal officers.

Understanding this distinction prevents much of the confusion around SHe-Box.

WHICH ROUTE APPLIES?
The first question is usually not simply “Should I use SHe-Box?”
It is:
Where the complaint falls within the jurisdiction of a properly constituted Internal Committee, the IC will ordinarily be the workplace-level statutory body dealing with it. Section 9 of the POSH Act provides for a written complaint to the Internal Committee where it is constituted.
The POSH Act gives the Local Committee jurisdiction where the Internal Committee has not been constituted because the establishment has fewer than ten workers.
The Local Committee is also the statutory route where the complaint is against the employer.
SHe-Box provides an online channel for registering a workplace sexual-harassment complaint. The portal then routes the complaint to the authority having jurisdiction. Using SHe-Box does not change whether the IC or LC is the relevant statutory body.
You do not need to recount what happened simply to understand the basic procedural route.
CHOOSE YOUR JOURNEY
Understand:
You can first understand the process without giving POSH India Help an account of the incident.
Understand:
SHe-Box onboarding is only one part of workplace POSH readiness. Organisations must separately consider their Internal Committee arrangements, awareness and training, complaint-handling systems, records, reporting and other applicable obligations.
